Today we met our client: The San Diego Zoo.

Their mission is three-fold: Entertainment, Education, and Conservation.

This semester we will be analyzing their carbon footprint.

My team is in charge of the animals and agriculture aspect of the zoo. Basically we have to configure a way to measure animal farts (methane produced by what they eat). Should be interesting…

So far, it is an intimidating project. After hearing from the Zoo staff members, they are already doing a lot towards sustainability. Not quite sure what we students have to offer them, but it will still be a great learning process, and it will be great working with such a well-established organization.
